Since 1996, we have been developing individual web applications and very early on specialized in PHP.

We are an owner-operated company with long-term experience in designing and implementing high-standard custom software.

Our 20-person team of permanent employees consists of university graduates holding a diploma in computer science as well as software developers with a vocational IT training and long-term project experience. This way, we find convincing solutions between the poles of modern theories and practical experience.

Our aim is to implement first-rate web applications. In order to make the quality of our work measurable, we work with standardization. We comply, for example, with the XHTML-recommendations by the W3C and generally accepted coding standards. Our software developers are certified by Zend and are therefore allowed to call themselves Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE).

It is a tradition for mindworks to provide professional training. Apart from assuring the permanent further training of our employees, we cover our need for competent specialists by training computer scientists specializing in application development certified by the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

Our solutions are based on the core technologies HTTP, PHP, SQL, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and their applications, such as HTML, XHTML, DHTML, WAP, RSS, SOAP, XML-RPC, JSON, Ajax.

According to the project requirements, we work with server-side PHP frameworks such as Symfony2, the Zend Framework or own framework solutions. As to client-side frameworks, we use, for example, the JavaScript libraries Scriptaculous or Dojo-Toolkit. Concerning front-end development, we automatically make sure to use valid XHTML code that is safe against methods of attack like XSS and SQL-Injection and meets the general demands of website accessibility and SEO.

We also strongly adjust our workflow to our customers’ demands: After the first discussions, we make a fixed price offer for the realization of a clearly defined project scope.

According to the principle “one face to the customer”, you have a contact at mindworks to whom you can turn with all your questions – the project manager. He finds solutions for your requirements together with his team.

For the further development of your application after its launch, we offer service contracts that guarantee a certain volume of work at a reduced daily rate.

Internally, we follow a streamlined workflow that has evolved from our long-term experience. This process is adapted to the individual demands of our customers. We are familiar with agile methods and gladly apply them if the situation and our customer allow it.

Our customers are usually marketing- or online departments of enterprises in different lines of business. Since our foundation, we have developed various web applications for marketing support, online communities, shop- and intranet systems, and many more.

For the HypoVereinsbank (one of the largest private banks in Germany) we developed Vorfreu.de in 2003, a complex simulation, during which the player leads a whole virtual life and has to make all the important financial decisions such as financial investments, insurances, and retirement provisions.

From 2004 to 2011, we were in charge of the online activities of the daily newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost; we ensured the complete daily availability and functionality of the websites and broadened the range of services continually.

By order of Lycos Europe, we developed the knowledge market Lycos iQ in 2005. It allows users to ask questions which are answered by other users. A comprehensive rating system evaluates the relevance of the answers and motivates the user to make high-quality contributions. By now, the number of questions amounts to a million. mindworks continually maintains and expands the platform since its launch on the basis of a service agreement.

We developed an intranet application for the Financial Times Deutschland in 2007. On the one hand, it serves as a process control for the special supplement, on the other hand, it enables a daily planning of topics and an ordering of graphics for the main issue.

In 2008, Gruner + Jahr, Europe‘s largest magazine publisher, chose us as a partner agency. Together with the central department online systems, we work on the technical (further) development of online communities for several newspapers. As a highlight, a complete overhaul of Financial Times Deutschland (FTD.de) was launched in 2009.
